Definition of Paraclite
Par"a*clete (?), n. [L.
paracletus, Gr. &?;, from &?; to call to one, to exhort,
encourage; para` beside + &?; to call.] An advocate;
one called to aid or support; hence, the Consoler, Comforter, or
Intercessor; -- a term applied to the Holy Spirit.
From which intercession especially I conceive he hath
the name of the Paraclete given him by Christ.
