Quaking aspen (Bot.), an American
species of poplar (Populus tremuloides), the leaves of which
tremble in the lightest breeze. It much resembles the European aspen.

forming peat so saturated with water that it shakes when trodden
upon. -- Quaking grass. (Bot.)
