before + &?; bee-eater.] (Zoöl.) Any one of several
species of very brilliant birds belonging to Promerops,
Epimarchus, and allied genera, closely related to the paradise
birds, and mostly native of New Guinea. They have a long curved beak
and a long graduated tail.
