prehensio, prensio, a seizing, arresting, fr.
prehendre, prendere, to lay hold of, to seize. See

Misprision.] 1. A place where persons are
confined, or restrained of personal liberty; hence, a place or state
o&?; confinement, restraint, or safe custody.
