  • In golf, an unpenalized chance to re-take a stroke that went awry
         If you lose your drive in the water, take a mulligan and try again.
  • A second chance
         Don't do poorly in your first interview; you won't get a mulligan.
  • (informal) A unit of measure equal to 62.5 milliliters, or 2.5 shots, of alcohol. So named because it is the cost of being allowed a do-over in drinking games.
         Tom couldn't handle the shot of tequila, so he had to do a mulligan of port.
