Met`a*car"pus (?), n. [NL., fr. Gr.
&?;; &?; beyond, between + &?; the wrist.] (Anat.) That
part of the skeleton of the hand or forefoot between the carpus and
phalanges. In man it consists of five bones. See Illust. of
Artiodactyla.
