for linðe tender, mild, gentle; akin to G. lind,
gelind, OHG. lindi, Icel. linr, L. lenis
soft, mild, lentus flexible, and AS. linnan to yield.

2. Capable of being easily bent; pliant;
flexible; limber; as, the elephant's lithe proboscis.
