Ken`o*gen"e*sis (?), n. [Gr. &?; new +
E. genesis.] (Biol.) Modified evolution, in which
nonprimitive characters make their appearance in consequence of a
secondary adaptation of the embryo to the peculiar conditions of its
environment; -- distinguished from palingenesis.
