'i`dios proper, peculiar + &?; a form, mold.]
(Biol.) That portion of the cell protoplasm which is the
seat of all active changes, and which carries on the function of
hereditary transmission; -- distinguished from the other portion,
which is termed nutritive plasma. See Hygroplasm.
