[Hydroxyl + amine.] (Chem.) A nitrogenous,
organic base, NH2.OH, resembling ammonia, and produced by
a modified reduction of nitric acid. It is usually obtained as a
volatile, unstable solution in water. It acts as a strong reducing
agent.
