Definition of Demonacracy
De`mon*oc"ra*cy (?), n. [Gr.
dai`mwn demon + kra`tos strength: cf. F.
démonocratie.] The power or government of
demons.
A demonocracy of unclean spirits.
H. Taylor.
- Webster's Unabridged Dictionary (1913)
- Government by demons, be it in a spiritual or temporal sense. This can refer both to the demonic hierarchy's governance of Hell, or the spiritual governance which demons exercise over those on earth who are in their thrall. It also refers to a political system some Satanists and demonolators believe will be established at the end of the age, in which all temporal powers of governance are exercised by demons, speaking through their appointed priests and priestesses on the earth. (Akin to 'theocracy', except the priests are not of god but rather of demons.)
- A pejorative term for democracy, used by those who believe that government by the people is no better than government by the devils of hell, and often worse.
- The Nuttall Encyclopedia
