Blood"flow`er (&?;), n. [From the color of
the flower.] (Bot.) A genus of bulbous plants, natives of
Southern Africa, named Hæmanthus, of the Amaryllis family. The
juice of H. toxicarius is used by the Hottentots to poison their
arrows.
