sponge, fr. &?; unwashed; 'a priv. + &?; to wash.]
(Zoöl.) A genus of marine mollusks of the order
Tectibranchiata; the sea hare. Some of the species when disturbed
throw out a deep purple liquor, which colors the water to some distance.
